Dorothy Washington, Dedicated Professional Specializing in Mental Health Services

Dorothy Washington was raised and grew up in the city of Bridgeport, CT. When Dorothy was deciding on which city to start her own private practice, it was an easy decision. Wanting to give back to the city that she grew up in, Dorothy opened her private practice in the downtown area of Bridgeport, CT providing easy access to high-quality mental health treatment to the Bridgeport community and other surrounding cities in Connecticut.

Dorothy Washington has been involved in the healthcare field for over 20 years. Dorothy graduated from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield Connecticut with a masters degree in Nursing. Dorothy continued her education at Chamberlain University and successfully received a Doctorate Degree in Nursing. Dorothy went on to obtain her Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certificate at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions (RMUOHP). Dorothy Worked for the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) for the state of Connecticut for a little over 18 years. During this time Dorothy started as a registered nurse on the Detox Unit, Chronic Long Term Unit, and Acute Unit caring for individuals with severe persistent mental illness. Dorothy worked her way up the ladder to become the Director of Nursing 2 overseeing inpatient services as well as the nursing discipline.

 

Dorothy has professional experience caring for individuals with a range of mental health diagnoses, ranging from depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, OCD, Schizophrenia, Borderline Personality Disorder.
